Kākano Fund 2025 - Round Two applications open now

We are pleased to invite applications for Round Two of the Kākano Fund Award from students enrolled during 2025 in a graduate degree course for a BA Hons or MA or PhD in Social or Cultural Anthropology at a New Zealand University. Round Two applications are due on Monday 22 September 2025. The closing date is earlier than usual so that successful students wanting assistance to attend our annual conference know the outcome of their applications to Kākano before the Early Bird conference registration date.

Kākano Fund 2024 - Round One applications now open

We are pleased to invite applications for Round One of the Kākano Fund Award from students enrolled during 2024 in a degree course for a BA Hons or MA in Social and/or Cultural Anthropology. Consideration will also be given to PhD students if funding permits. Students must be enrolled in a Social or Cultural Anthropology graduate programme at a New Zealand university. Round One applications are due on Monday 27 May 2024.

Our first instalment of Graduate Stories for 2020 features Luka Amber Leleiga Ruth Lim Schweitzer Anapu Bernard Cowley Bunnin, who recently completed a BA Hons with a double major in cultural anthropology and Pacific studies at Te Whare Wānanga o Tāmaki Makaurau (University of Auckland).
